I have decided that I will be writing about nanoparticles and how they can be used in drug and gene delivery. What is this? This is a very-very small -on the molecular scale -scientifically made -in the lab-particle that can be used to detect and kill cancer cells when injected into the bloodstream. I think this is great considering how cancer kills so many people and most people did not even know they had it until it was too late to treat. The treatment itself for cancer now has many side effects that can harm the patient, if you can stop this than that would benefit the patient as well. Chemotherapy is a tough treatment to go through on the hopes that it will work. I would like to see someday this type of treatment-nanoparticles- help in the fight against cancer.
How does this work? What scientist do is encode the particle with receptors that will bind to cancer cells only and destroy that cancer cell. They do not kill any good cells. WOW!
So, tell me what you think about this topic. Does it spark interest? On the other hand, is it too far advanced to want to read about? The one thing that I thought that would keep someone from reading about it was the fact that it is somewhat unknown to the public, it is known in the science community. This sometimes turns away readers because it is too complex to understand. I think I can bring some understanding of it with my research. Tell me what you think!

Finally working!!!!!!!!!
I am so happy right know because my fiancée is working again. This past two years has been hard on us because he has not had a steady income. Let me say that money issues are a relationships worst nightmare sometimes. Through think and thin richer and poorer, right? Sometimes when you think it is never going to be any better --- it does get better. Just wanted to share, I know there may be someone out there that is going through similar issues, just stay strong.

To all my Kaplan Classmates
I am not sure what I am doing here. I have been playing around with the formatting and such so if you see a change it is because of that. I like the fact that Kaplan has instituted this as part of the course. I hope that everyone else is enjoying this too. I look forward to reading your blogs and reading any reply. Is this great or what that technology has advanced this far. I can remember when the first beeper was popular and then the first huge cell phone. Just think of what is in the future!!!! Good wishes to all of you

It is great being an online student!
I think that it is a wonderful thing that I am able to receive a degree with the convenience of being at home. I work full time and have the responsibility of making sure my grand son gets to and from school. This may not seem to be much of anything but it is. I do not think that I would be able to go to on campus classes. My day is full and then there are the family duties in the evening and sleep at night. Sometimes I do not get much sleep either. I am on call at work a few days a week and even when I am not on call I still get calls. For a person with a busy life online education is the way to go.
The only thing I would say that may cause someone difficulty doing online school is bad time management. The weeks go by fast, a person would have to be committed to a schedule and complete assignments according to it. You do not realize just how quick you can get behind. It just makes sense to get the better grade, which is dependant on your ability to complete your work on time. The work assignments are appropriate and accomplishable during the week. I like that I set my own schedule for each task even though I may have to adjust at times.
Communication is the key in every part of online courses. The discussion boards are your classroom. You need to read and pay attention to all the post that are there, at least the majority. I learn a great deal from my classmates. The instructor is there to assist so if the student needs help then they should ask for it. How does the instructor know you are having a difficult time when you do not express it? Because they are online, courses are many ways to communicate with your instructor. I have found email to work well. Each instructor will give the student a list of ways to communicate needs, questions, and concerns with times of their availability. Not actually visualizing your classmates and instructor I believe makes it harder to relate at times. I like it when the instructor will post their picture. At first I was concerned with letting people know me when I introduced myself but know I am more relaxed about it. I would like it though if the student was able to post their picture to their introduction. I think having a visual of the person would further help me in the discussion boards. I try to think of being able to discuss the topic in a classroom with them.
I thought if each classmate were to be paired with another and each week and someone else the next this may help in learning what was going on for the week. If the class was large than three people would be matched a week. It would be another assignment for each of the students. A scheduled study group you may call it. The student is not only learning good time management skills they are interacting more with their classmates.
Going to school is challenging when you have many other things to do in your life. I like being able to adjust according to my every day life. Each day brings more to do however; at the end, I will have the feeling of accomplishment and a chance at a better professional career!

Past and future goals.
I have been a licensed practical nurse since 1992 however, I really have only practiced for the last 10 years. I decided in 1991 that I was ready to get my degree. I liked nursing because I was already working in the field as a certified aid. My mother was "the great nurse" as I like to say and taught me many things already. I was in a bad relationship too and needed the ability to support myself and children at the time. The kids were very young, all under 7, three of them. I enrolled into nursing school and was chosen for the class. my husband though thought this was wrong and told me I would never make more money than him. He done many bad things to stop me from going to school from burning my books to shredding all of my clothes. I never gave up and finished the course with a feeling of major accomplishment. I even graduated with a good GPA. I have always wanted to help people even when I was unable to help myself. I worked as a nurse off and on for a few years and then quit. That is when I ended up in Florida. I wasn't sure if I wanted to start working again in the profession because I was what I call complicated mentally. The money was good and I needed it. I did what I always told myself I would never do and work for just the money. I did not put my all into my job. I feel you really have to want to do this kind of job no matter what to be able to perform at the level needed when dealing with another persons life. I was not mentally ready. That's when I quit again. After a while I began working for a company here in south Florida ,7 years ago, and during the past 7 years I have learned to overcome many things with the help of the company's employee assistance program. I have been free of my emotional demons for 5 years now and last year decided to continue with my plan of becoming a Physician Assistant. I have gotten back the strength that I once had and know I can do it. It is still hard though, I have to deal with working full time and there is still the family issues to deal with. I would say to anyone however do not ever give up your vision of yourself and where you want to go. It is possible with perseverance .
